We cannot afford to delay actions, to water down ambition or to limit the scope of the Nature Restoration Law.

This is why we strongly call upon EU leaders to safeguard the following key elements in the EU Nature Restoration Law:

• Effective restoration of agricultural ecosystems with targets for restoring drained peatlands
• Quantified, timebound and enforceable targets in and outside Natura 2000 areas for all habitats
• Non-deterioration of ecosystems
• Implementable marine targets
• Dedicated and additional funding
• Clear public participation and access to justice provisions

We are witnessing a mass biodiversity extinction and climate breakdown. The science is very clear on what we need: effective nature restoration measures on a large scale.
